History of the RNLI at Burnham on Crouch

Burnham on Crouch has been the base for a lifeboat since 1966 when the inshore lifeboat station was established  with a D class inshore lifeboat behind the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club. The inshore rescue boat was then launched via a trailer and the yacht club ramp.

In 1998 a new boathouse was built at Burnham Yacht Harbour which made launching much quicker.

By 1996 the station was upgraded with the provision of a larger B class Atlantic 21 lifeboat to supplement the D class and in 1997 this was further upgraded with a new B class Atlantic 75 lifeboat.

In 2002 Burnham RNLI opened a new floating boathouse which is one of only 3 in the UK
